Leeds City Region: The engine room of British Art and Sculpture is a publication that demonstrates West Yorkshire’s importance in creating the history of British art, and particularly enabling the development of sculpture, in the UK.
Many of the greatest British artists of the 20th century have emerged and developed in Yorkshire (Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, for example), and four of the most significant art galleries in the UK — Leeds Art Gallery, Henry Moore Institute, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield — reside within what is known as the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle, a platform for international visual artists across four venues all within 20 miles of each other.
